A Kissing Disease and a RAOK

Cecily wasn't in school the day after she came over and wrote that post with me. She wasn't around the day after that, either. So, on the third day I went up to Susanna, the pretty silver squirrel who lives next to Cecily and knows her very well. This is pretty much what happened:
*poke poke*
"Where's Cecily? She hasn't been in school for like three days."
"Oh!" she replied. "She came down with mon...mononoo....mononooceulsis or something." Then she scurried off.
Whaaaat??
I called a meeting with Sammy as soon as I finished my homework (yuck, homework).
I rapped my tail against my Science textbook. "Meeting come to order!"
He rolled his eyes at my seriousness to Cecily and what we should do about it- secretly, of course. I didn't want Mom to help us, accidentally slip, and tell Mrs. Chitter, even though her help would have been appreciated. Safety measures are key...
"Ooooh, what a nice plan, Cecily will lo-" Sammy giggled. Just then Aunt Tsofiya came in and he hurriedly shut his mouth.
"What's this about Cecily?" she asked.
"Ah, ah, nothing." I said, trying to get Sammy to understand that he shouldn't say anything more. "She hasn't been in class a few days. We thought she might be sick with monooo...mononooleclisis. Okay, that is not the way to pronounce it."
"Meeting adjourned," I whispered to my brother as Aunt Tsofiya launched into a lecture on mononucleosis. (the right way to spell it!)
The next day after school, I crept out of the house while Sammy distracted the women by asking them about how to properly cook acorn soup. (Don't ask me why, he thought that would be appropriate)
I leaped up onto the telephone pole and scurried across the line. Mom won't be too happy if she reads this, but I really made sure to only run on the insulated wires. Really!
I knocked on the Chitter's door. Mrs. Chitter opened it.
"Hi Sylvie dear," she said. "We're not taking visitors. Cecily has mono."
"Don't worry," I reassured her. "I've had it before." I have to admit, Aunt Tsofiya's lecture helped. Mono usually is only caught once. I've had it, thank goodness. There was lots more, but I'm not going to bore you with the details.
She let me pass by, and I crept into Cecily's room, where she was lying curled up on the bed.
"Hi," she whispered softly.
"Heard about you," I said. "I compiled a kit with the mini chef."
"Sammy?"
"That's the one!"
I proceeded to unload all the contents of my basket. A thermos of hot acorn soup (courtesy of Sammy), lots of nice fruit juice, three boxes of tissues, a packet of Cecily's favorite throat drops, a sleep mask, a get-well card, and some activities.
Her eyes got bigger and bigger as she saw me unload all the things.
"Wow."
"Yup, this is what we compiled," I quipped as I set the card on her table. "I'll come over to brief you on class tomorrow. I don't want to keep you- rest is fundamental. Feel better soon." I squeezed her hand and left.
So it looks like she'll be out of commission for another few weeks. I hope she hurries up and gets better 'cause I have an odd feeling about Uncle Isaak and Aunt Tsofiya and I need her to help me.
Ooop, she just texted me! I'll see ya later!
